Q: I am concerned that I won’t be able to make my payments as a result of Covid-19
A: Following the group support announced for Retail Bank, Commercial and Business Banking customers, special measures have been put in place to support customers impacted by Covid-19. This includes the option to defer rentals during a payment holiday. Our team at Gofor is happy to offer guidance on making this request to the funder.
Q: I have a vehicle scheduled for delivery in the next few months, what will happen now?
A: Currently, all vehicle manufacturing locations in Europe are closed and it is likely that vehicle orders will be adversely affected by the manufacturer factory closures, with anticipated delivery dates being postponed. Please be aware that once factories re-open, there is also likely to be a significant backlog and time required for supply chains to catch up with demand.
Q: My new vehicle delivery or collection is delayed because of impact of the Coronavirus. What do I need to do now?
A: We are aware that a number of franchised dealers have chosen to close their locations. We will work closely with our supply chain to understand whether any vehicle deliveries will occur during this period and when they will restart. We will then contact you immediately. We will assist in extending existing vehicle contracts or sourcing hire vehicles to bridge any gaps that may occur.
Q: I have a vehicle in informal extension and would like to return it.
A: Vehicle collection services are temporarily unavailable until further notice. If you would like to keep the vehicle for an extended period beyond your end of contract date, the funder should continue your contract for you and confirm monthly rental details to you. If your preference is still to return the vehicle, the funder will advise when they are able to re-arrange the collection. We are reminding customers to ensure that all vehicles remained insured and roadworthy during this period.
Q: What if my vehicle’s MOT is due or has expired and I can’t get it renewed due to the current Coronavirus situation?
A: Vehicle owners will be granted a six month exemption from MOT testing, enabling them to continue to travel to work where this absolutely cannot be done from home, or shop for necessities. All cars, vans and motorcycles which usually would require an MOT test will be exempted from needing a test from 30 March 2020. Vehicles must be kept in a roadworthy condition, and garages will remain open for essential repair work. Drivers can be prosecuted if driving unsafe vehicles.
Q: My vehicle requires a service and/or maintenance to be completed on it, how will this happen with the garages shutting down?
A: We are aware that a number of franchise and non-franchised dealers have closed but we are working with our supply chain to ensure that a yet to be determined number of these workshops will remain open for the sole purpose of servicing and maintaining key services & key worker vehicles.
Q: Does COVID-19 have an impact on the move to WLTP (Worldwide harmonized Light Vehicle test Procedure)?
A: No, COVID-19 will not have any impact on the transition to WLTP for Vehicle Excise Duty from 1st April and taxation purposes from 6th April.
Q: What will happen with new vehicles that have been registered earlier for WLTP but cannot now be delivered?
A: The vehicle will be kept at the supplying dealership and we will notify you of a new delivery date as soon as we can. Please do not contact the supplying dealer directly.
